Torres Strait Island Collaboration Project
In 2008 the Sydney Children’s Choir embarked on a multi-year collaboration project with children from across the Torres Strait Islands. This project is a very important initiative for the Choir and sits directly within our artistic goals of: engaging in new and innovative projects and collaborations; striving to develop the education program for our choristers; enabling choristers to be actively involved in the creation of new works; and finding and involving children who would otherwise have no access to music education.

This project is a significant financial investment for the Sydney Children’s Choir and requires us to raise approximatley $230,000 to enable to take place. Sydney Children's Choir Bursaries

The Sydney Children's Choir is supported by the Australian government through the Australia Council for the Arts and by the NSW Government through Arts NSW. The major costs however are carried by the participants. Unfortunately this precludes many talented young Australians from taking part. It is our goal to ensure that any suitably talented child has the opportunity to participate in our programs without financial, social, and physical or distance barriers.

In 2006 the Sydney Children’s Choir launched its Bursary Program and now offers a number of bursaries to its Choral Training Program each year.
